Our products and services

We make several forms of bio-fuel. The most basic fuel which can be purchased from all Local Agents is:-

bio-power V100  vehicle fuel, which can be used as a direct substitute for DERV, or ULSD,
in unmodified compression ignition engines.   This is our cheapest fuel and the most popular.
It is not made from 100% organic materials, but includes some mineral content that would
otherwise present a waste disposal problem. This fuel is available from all Local Agents.

It should at least initially be used as a 50:50 blend with mineral diesel.

The following fuels are available only from certain Local Agents, but can be ordered in advance.

bio-power V107  vehicle fuel, which is designed for optimum performance.
It is noticeably more powerful than ULSD, and it may require some alteration to your engine.

bio-power V109   vehicle fuel, which is derived from 100% natural organic materials.
It is currently the most 'green' of our fuels, but costs more than ULSD.

bio-power G100  high energy fuel, which is used to drive diesel generators, or heat boilers,
where modification of the fuel delivery is required.

bio-power G105  long life fuel, this fuel is designed for use in stand-by generators, where there may
be comparatively low use but start-up in adverse conditions is necessary.
Special operational conditions apply to the use of this fuel.

bio-power G120  a high energy fuel designed for use in boilers and heating plant. Our simple to fit heat exchanger
The Bio-power range of fuel line heat exchangers are now being made and distributed by Jonathan and Dolly Stromberg, at the 'Centre for Implosion Research' based in Plymouth.  This simple to fit heat exchanger can be fitted to the fuel supply system of most diesel engines, and enables the engine to run on a much broader range of fuels, and will also improve performance when using any form of fuel.  However, the improvement in performance is much greater when using bio-fuels.  Click here for further information. Energy audit consultancy
We also provide a consultancy and design service to industry, in which we will review the energy requirement of a company and discuss how this can best be met from renewable non-fossil fuels.  We are especially interested in situations where waste products could be used as an energy source, for example waste wood off cuts or sawdust, fat cut from animal carcasses, or whey.  This is a very important issue for most companies in the UK where the Climate Change Levy (CCL) will tax those companies using a lot of energy derived from non-fossil fuels, and benefit companies who derive their energy from renewable sources.
Bio-power V100 road fuel This fuel is designed and made as a direct substitute for normal diesel.  It will run in any compression ignition engine without any form of modification.  You do not need alternative fuel tanks or fuel line switches etc.  Just pour it into your tank and drive away! It is a darker colour than derv, and it is more sticky if you spill it down the side of your car.  When burning it smells totally different to derv, more like the appetising smell from a fish and chip shop. This fuel is made by our additive blending process, and it is not Rapeseed Methyl Ester (RME), in which the fat stock is transesterified, thereby making a by-product of glycerol. Our unique process modifies the fat by separation, blending and polishing to ensure the optimal burn characteristics in a broad range of engines. Our method does not use any mineral chemicals, or create any waste by-products.  In our fuel the entire energy audit of the fat stock is made available for use as a fuel.  Our V100 fuel out performs both Derv and Bio-diesel. This fuel can be mixed with ULSD, and any of our other V series fuels. Bio-power V100 currently costs 70p to 75p per litre which includes Excise Duty at a rate of 27.1 p per litre and VAT. It can be delivered by most Bio-power Local Agents, and we recommend private customers use our 200 litre storage containers which can be installed in your garage, and from which the fuel can be gravity fed to the vehicle.  It is also sold in 1,000 litre containers, called IBCs.
For further information about other suppliers in the UK go to the list of agents. Bio-power V107 This fuel is designed for the bio-fuel enthusiast.  It has a high organic content, but uses special detonators to ensure a clean combustion.  In some vehicles it may be necessary to install a heat exchanger or special igniter.  It currently costs about 90p per litre. Bio-power V109 This is our most 'green' fuel in so far as it is created entirely from non-fossil natural materials, and as it does not include any animal fats, it is also a 'vegan' fuel.  This is designed for people who are very committed to ensure they do not add to the effects of Global Warming or Climate Change.  It is not designed for high performance, and in some vehicles it will require additional equipment in the form of heaters to ensure reliable starting - especially in colder conditions.  Being derived entirely from processed vegetable fats and essential oils it is more expensive than normal ULSD.  It currently costs about £1.10p per litre. Bio-power G100 high energy fuel This fuel is designed for use in large generating engines, or larger industrial heating plant.  It is solid or semi solid at ambient temperatures, and needs to be pre-heated before use.  This means that engines and burners have to be modified or rebuilt to allow the use of this form of fuel.  The main use for this form of fuel is in large generators (over 1 megawat) which supply to the grid.  If you have stand-by generation equipment anywhere in the UK then we would like to discuss contracts in which we can provide fuel and sell the electricity created. Bio-power G105 long life fuel for stand-by generators This is designed specifically for use in smaller stand-by generators as used alongside transmission masts in remote places.  It has special additives to make the fuel more resistant to bio-degradation if left unused for long periods of time, and also it is specially formulated to ensure rapid start-up.  We provide this fuel to a specially designed and heated tank, and we require the engines running on this fuel to be tested regularly, and the fuel maintained at a specific minimum temperature at all times. Bio-power G120 space heating fuel This is a high energy fuel for space heating where existing burners may run on kerosene.  If you are a high energy user (i.e. spend more than £4,000 per year on your fuel or heating bill), then contact us for advice and / or quotation for the conversion of your equipment to run on this form of fuel.  There are very significant benefits in using this form of non-fossil fuel under the Climate Change Levy. Our simple to fit heat exchangers These units are fitted to the fuel delivery pipes and provides additional heating to the fuel, drawn from the circulating coolant water.  The three stage heater unit also has an electrical connection to the glow plug circuit and to the battery.  Fitting the unit does not require any specialist mechanical skills, and can normally be achieved within about 20 minutes.  The unit can also be fitted with a dashboard override switch and direct reading thermometer recording the actual temperature of the fuel prior to the injector pump.  This range of units may be purchased directly from the manufacturer Jonathan Stromberg at the  Centre for Implosion Research, P.O. Box 38, Plympton, Plymouth, Cornwall PL7 5YX  (Telephone 01752 349840)  info@implosionresearch.com         Click here for a direct link to their site Energy audit consultancy We are just as interested in the use of energy other than as a road transport fuel.  This includes the generation of electricity either by running large diesel engines or through steam turbines.  If you are involved in a company that uses a lot of energy then we can audit your energy creation, and propose ways by which you could benefit from the use of non-fossil fuels.  We are able to provide or specify special burner heads that will run on our form of fuel (bio-power G100, or similar), or we can design and commission plant to convert to bio-fuel.  We can also prepare feasibility reports on the use and creation of bio-fuels from your existing hydrocarbon wastes. This is especially relevant to companies like creameries, slaughter houses and abattoirs, where there is a problem about the disposal of fats, most of which can be modified to make useful non-fossil fuels.
