Bio-power Events and Activities
We run a program of events and activities, some of which are open to the public, others are for beginners, and others for our members only.

Introductory Seminars

We run a regular series of 'Introductory Seminars' for people who are considering making our form of fuel either for their own use or as a commercial producer of bio-fuels within the Bio-power Network.  These seminars are generally held on the second full weekend within every calendar month, at a location in North Wales.  They start with a meeting on the Friday evening, and the course runs through Saturday and Sunday.  The fee for the course is £150, which includes the provision of lunch and refreshments during the day.  The course provides a background understanding of the principles of energy, and why energy is stored, how we use energy, the issues of climate change, and the role of bio-fuels in addressing this threat.  We look at all the different ways of making bio-fuels, including the unique Bio-power process, and the more conventional methods of making 'bio-diesel'.  The whole structure and format of the Bio-power Network is explained.  We also look at all the regulatory and safety issues, how to register for the payment of Excise Duty, Planning, the Environment Agency, and Health & Safety, and insurance.  If there is an interest we also look at other technical projects that our members are working on including gasification and the use of bio-fuels in power generation.  People leaving the seminar will be able to make their own fuel on a trial basis, and will understand what is involved in setting up a commercial scale plant.  Follow this link for further information on our Introductory Seminar program.

Bio-power Introductory Seminars are normally held every month, on the second full weekend within every month.  It is necessary to book in advance because we accept a maximum of ten people in each seminar.

Applications to attend an Introductory Seminar must be made by telephone 01286 830312   or  info@bio-power.co.uk or by returning the Seminar Booking form with a deposit of £50.00.

Membership Events:

We run a program of events for members with at least one meeting in the UK every month.  These may take the form of technical seminars or working groups where a specific aspect of our work is studied, or we may meet to discuss our policy or administrative matters.  These meetings are only open to the Membership, and in most cases only to those members who are registered to become Bio-power Local Agents.

Our full program of events is published in the current issue of Bio-power News.
