The Bio-Power Association Charter
Any person or company wishing to join or support the Bio-Power Association is required to sign a copy of the Charter, thereby making a formal commitment to the ethical aims set out below.
The aim of the Bio-Fuel Association is to promote the creation and use of sustainable fuels that are renewable, and do not cause environmental pollution. Membership of the Association is open to organisations and individuals supporting its aims and objectives as set out in this Charter.
I / we recognise the threat to civilisation through global warming caused,
or exacerbated by
atmospheric carbon emissions from the burning of fossil fuels,
and also the fact that as our finite resources fossil fuels are exhausted,
so the cost of extraction will increase, and eventually only the richest
of nations will be able to control power sources.
Fuel producers and users have an important role in the custody and use of
fuel sources.
As guardians of the planet, we hereby proclaim our aims, and enjoin others,
to
1.
Promote wider awareness, respect and interest in the guardianship of the
global environmental balance
in which the use of energy plays such a vital part in maintaining or
disturbing the natural balance
between global heat loss and absorption
2.
Encourage the development, production and careful use of fuels, that
are:
renewable, (can be replenished easily),
non-toxic (do not create long lasting dangerous wastes),
non-polluting (do not cause environmental damage),
bio-degradable (are quickly converted by naturally occurring enzymes or
bacteria),
and do not cause an overall increase to the present levels of atmospheric
carbon
3.
Collectively, to campaign for taxation that is appropriate, just,
proportionate, sustainable and enforceable
and that will enable, and facilitate the wider use of bio-fuels,
without which commercial adoption of new forms of energy will not be
possible
4.
Work with and support those who share our aims through co-operation and not
competition.
Our only competitors are those who do not share these objects and continue
to promote the use of fossil fuels,
or commercial greed.
5.
Facilitate and practice the co-operative sharing of information, expertise,
knowledge, and experience,
between all members of the Association, that will further, improve and
better the creation and use of bio-fuels
6.
Wherever possible to use and promote the use of renewable energy sources
especially derived from bio-fuels, in travelling, transport, heating and
generation of electricity.
Bio-fuels are defined as renewable organic fuels, made from natural non-fossil hydrocarbon materials, including fats, sugars and starches, derived originally from plants, plant oils, gums and spirits, animal fats and marine organisms.
A printed copy of this Charter, the operating constitution, and application forms to join the Association will be provided by post if requested.
